Types of Sentence

TYPES OF SENTENCE

A.    Simple sentence

Simple sentence adalah kalimat yang terdiri dari satu subjek dan satu predikat tanpa adanya klausa di dalamnya.

Contoh :

I see the moon.

                        S     V

B.     Compound sentence

Compound sentence adalah gabungan dari dua buah kalimat yang dihubungkan dengan kata penghubung (conjunction).

Contoh :

-        I want to buy a car.

-        I don’t have much money.

•   I want to buy a car but I don’t have much money.

C.     Complex sentence

Complex sentence adalah kalimat majemuk bertingkat (dependent + independent) yang menggabungkan antara induk kalimat dengan anak kalimat.

Contoh :

I know the girl who wear a blue dress.

D.    Compound complex sentence

Compound complex sentence adalah gabungan dari kalimat compound dan complex. (kalimat yang terdiri dari 2 independent clause dan 1 atau lebih dependent clause).

Contoh :

I want to buy a car but I don’t have much money because I don’t work.
